In plain sight! Though literally steps away from Disney Springs (arguably the ‘fifth park’), this property is perhaps overlooked. Not any more! There are so many reasons we have come to truly love this vacation option. And here is the evidence that the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is a Disney World Hidden Gem.
What Makes Wyndham Lake Buena Vista a Disney World Hidden Gem?
Planning a triumphant return to Walt Disney World? Whether your goal is the 50th Anniversary Celebration, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, or the fall/winter holiday lineup, searching for accommodations is always the magical first step.
It seems the two biggest hurdles when selecting your hotel are cost and location. My personal Disney World requirements?
- Immersion in the magic and storytelling (After all, that’s why you chose a Disney vacation in the first place, right?)
- Affordability (I’d rather visit more often and not pay upwards of $600 per night!)
In my (story) book, a “gem” offers both.
Have you noticed that price of a Walt Disney World vacation has gone sky high?? Even Value Resorts can be out-of-reach for many families. (By contrast, during the past two years, I was able to find rooms at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista for under $100!!) Now more than ever, every dollar counts.
The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Special Offers page is chock-full of discounts. From their “Kids Eat Free” Package to “Stay Three Nights, Get the Fourth One Free,” economic vacations are a click away. This resort now claims the distinction of “offering the best rates in Disney Springs” area!
Of course, prices only tell part of the story. With a Seven Dwarfs treasure trove of amenities, dollars alone don’t spell V-A-L-U-E. Read on to appreciate the many unexpected perks offered at this property.
The Disney Touch
“Hidden Mickeys” etched on the lawn. An R2D2 photo backdrop off the lobby. Those famous Mickey Waffles at the Lakeview Restaurant!
These are just some of the elements that provide that ‘Disney Difference’ here. As one of the Walt Disney World Official Hotels: Disney Springs Resort Area choices, the perks that you may be familiar with are also offered here.
Have you noticed that lately it seems impossible to secure a Disney World dining reservation?? With reduced seating capacities and limited restaurant openings, it’s been tough going. Luckily, Disney Resort hotel Guests can make reservations up to 60 days in advance plus the length of their stay (up to 10 days). This INCLUDES the Wyndham! What a life-saver (stomach-saver??) this is for our planned trip on October 1st!!
Location Supreme at This Not-So Hidden Disney World Gem
The Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort Area may be a Disney World “hidden” gem, but it is actually located just a pedestrian bridge away from Disney Springs! And a 15 to 20-minute drive away from the other parks and local attractions.
As may be familiar, Disney Springs is home to a full gamut of dining, entertainment, and unique shopping. From bowling to movies to live outdoor music, you could easily spend an entire day right across the street from this hotel.
With the price of Disney World park tickets escalating, I find more and more families opt for a “day off.” Just imagine- a full day at the pool. Lunch from the Oasis Bar & Grill in your private cabana. A stroll over the walkway to dinner at Disney Springs. (At one of my favorite Italian restaurants, perhaps?) And a nightcap back at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista enjoyed in their jacuzzi. MAGICAL.
And how about ending your evening with a view of the fireworks?? I believe this alone meets the definition of a Disney World hidden gem!

Also refurbished are these 394 budget-friendly rooms. These accommodations each have a motel-style courtyard or parking lot-facing entry.
Both room types offer soooo many welcome traveler amenities:

At the heart of the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is the Oasis Aquatic Pool Area and Playground. Features:

Let’s face it. “Cabana” and “gem” go hand-in-hand… Choose a cabana alongside the jacuzzi (as seen above), or alongside the Oasis Aquatic Playground to keep your eye on the kiddies.
If you REALLY want to let your hair down and get in the vacation grove, try one of the many yummy cocktails served poolside from the Oasis Bar & Grill.
Stay & Play Golf Package
Lodging AND the ability to book a tee time at on one of the nearby Walt Disney World® Championship Golf Courses. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Disney Golf this year, there is no better time to hit the links. Choose from 18 or 9 holes, or FootGolf (think soccer meets golf!). Or maybe now is your chance to take a shot at (or around) the famous Mickey Mouse bunker at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course??
Located on the hotel lobby level, you can find Cybex equipment, treadmills, exercise bikes, and elliptical machines. (I’m looking at you runDisney trainers!!) Free weights/benches, and strengthening machines can complete your next well-rounded workout. Towels are provided.
Complete with computer, printing, copy, and fax services, any business traveler’s needs can be met here 24/7.
With 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space, full convention and catering services are conveniently at your disposal.
Full-Range Dining Options
Sit down service? Light bites? Grab and go? Luckily, the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista checks all the boxes. And appetites.
Though their fames Character Breakfasts are now on pandemic hold, this pretty and spacious restaurant has reopened and serves a buffet breakfast. (See above-mentioned all-you-can-eat Mickey Waffles!!) Dining time is presently 7:30 am to 11:00 am. Stay tuned for future updates. Views of Lake Buena Vista included!
Now THIS is the ultimate Walt Disney World hidden gem! I can’t tell you how much I love this open-air dining spot. The food? A perfect variety: from healthy options like the Reef Salad and Jerk Mahi Mahi Tacos to the best wings on property. (My $16 Angus Burger was pretty dang good too.)
By the way, this is also the most economic menu I have found at Disney World!! Not only is there an entire “Poolside Kids” menu, the adult handcrafted cocktails (as pictured above) are multiple and delish. I cannot wait to get back there this September!!
Joffrey’s Coffee Shop
I have often said that one of my favorite things to do when staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is to grab a Café Mocha on my way out to the parks. Well, this same Disney fan favorite sits in the lobby next to the front doors. As you well know, convenience is the name of the Disney World game.
Another 0n-the-go choice is the accompanying Sundial 24-7. And can you believe ANYTHING would be open 24/7 these days?? From bottled water to pre-made sandwiches to snacks, this market is ultra convenient. And since Disney World dining reservations are next to impossible to secure these days, we’re thinking we will be doing our park picnic shopping here this fall…
“On property” means so much more at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. The hotel does charge a $28 daily Resort Fee. This includes:

- 10% off food and non-alcoholic beverages from the Oasis Bar & Grill
- Scheduled daily shuttle service to all four Disney Parks and nearby Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores

Sorry folks, no four-legged guests at this resort. (Which many families with allergy concerns will embrace.)
And my favorite bonus? Dollar Car Rental has a location right in the lobby for EASY pickup and drop off!
Location, value, Mickey Mouse touches- have I made my case? The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is my secret Orlando vacation planning tip. It’s the best Disney World Hidden Gem!
