Magic lives! After 66 unhappy days, Walt Disney World Resort is beginning its phased reopening. (It shuttered on March 15th.) And thus, sprinkling pixie dust on a forlorn community. For us experiencing the DTs (that’s DISNEY tremens), we are chomping at the bit. Personally, the biggest conundrum will be: “Where do I eat first?!?” After extensive prior research, I’ve selected my finalists! So here are the Best Third-Party-Owned Disney Springs Restaurants.
Best Third-Party-Owned Disney Springs Restaurants
Table Service
The BOATHOUSE
In my opinion, this dining favorite is the premier spot for outdoor dining in Disney Springs. Their expansive waterside bar and multiple patios will easily accommodate Guests spaced six-feet apart. As always, the Dream Boat fleet will be on display while you graze.
On their interior, a 25% capacity will be honored. Surprisingly, Amphicars will be returning to Lake Buena Vista as well! Unfortunately, NOT returning at this time is the Clam Bake.

Wine Bar George
George Miliotes continues his renowned attention to detail. Thoughtfully, he has established stringent safety measures. (What else would you expect from one of only 256 Master Sommeliers in the world?!) Impressively, employees will wash their hands every time they exit the kitchen. Additionally, chairs, tables, and condiments will be sanitized with every use. Digital menus will be utilized by Guests on their personal phones. And don’t forget to reserve your spot on Opentable. Limited walk-ins will be accepted. OR, try the new offerings outdoor at The Basket. Check out their new fries/frose pairings! (I know I will.)
- Queso French Fries with Frosé
- Togarashi French Fries with Friezling made with Dole Whip® Lime
- California French Fries with Frozcato made with Dole Whip® Pineapple
- Buffalo French Fries with Freaujolais

Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante (Reopened August 19th!)
This latest re-entry can only mean that business is brisk at Disney Springs. (How magical is that??) With the reopening of the Patina Group’s table service restaurants, I am in a constant state of drool. In my mind, this is the BEST Italian establishment in this shopping and dining mecca.
You know how I feel about the safety of outdoor venues, but this is one spot I might break my own rules for. Their Chicken Parm is eccellenti!

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill
True confessions. I was hooked the first time I dined at Spago. Wolfgang’s signature is obvious this newer location in Disney Springs. Presenting an abbreviated menu at this time, the chef showcases local products. And don’t can’t pass up one of WG’s pizza’s!! (I never do.) Note they are now open 12 to 8 during week. However, on Fridays and Saturdays the hours extend from 12 to 9 pm.
As always, the walk-up window serves gelato and hot/cold drinks.
Walk-Up Window: YES
Planet Hollywood Orlando
If you prefer your meal blended in a tall glass, this is the place for you. The Big Dipper and Super Nova Shakes are out-of-this-world. In fact, the Guy Fieri “Big Bite Burgers” are other-planetary as well. Comfort food rules here. And we all need some comfort right about now… Their Dining Room and Terrace are both open for service.

Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
After adding additional outdoor space, this homey perennial favorite is now reopened! That’s right! Fittingly, the new Hello “Shine Bar + Social” offers increased dining/sipping space. No doubt this is in response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Despite that, this sounds like the perfect addition going forward. (Who couldn’t use some comfort food at a time like this??)
**BONUS: They sell face masks and neck gaiters!!!

Counter Service
Pizza Ponte (Opened May 22)
This New Yawka gushes over the giant slice at Pizza Ponte. The Patina Group has developed a comprehensive program called “Dine Safe.” It pledges to “exceed” CDC guidelines. This includes a designated employee training program. Single-use menus will be utilized here.
Outdoor Dining: YES
Chicken Guy!
I have to admit, this “Guy” takes chicken fingers to another level. His fries are pretty crazy too. Please note that the self-serve elements (sauces, drinks, etc.) here are now operated by staff.
I noticed long socially-distant lines in front of this establishment on reopening day. Diner beware!

Disney Springs Dining Guidelines
All Disney Springs restaurants will closely follow Reopen Florida Task Force guidelines. The current recommendations are below.

- Luckily, Guests are permitted to remove their mandatory masks while dining
- Employee temperature checks before their shift
- Guests receive their Advent Health check prior to entrance
- Constant common area surface disinfecting
- Cashless transactions are heavily encouraged
General Tips
- I would make that reservation! Understandably, walk-in service is limited at this time.
- Each establishment has their own open/close times. So know before you go!
- Presently, the Disney Springs complex is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm.
- To date, there is limited data on outdoor transmission of coronavirus. For me, I will opt for outdoor dining at every opportunity!
These are the best third-party-owned Disney Springs restaurants. I know I have my masks ready. When do we leave?
Lee Beatens says
Very thorough!
I heard many restaurants have reduced their menu options and raised prices. What do you think about that?
D Marie says
I did see that Lee. Since my family is in the restaurant business, I completely understand and endorse that decision! We know it’s temporary. I applaud these establishments for their willingness to become restaurant guinea pigs for the theme park industry. We know the Disney-owned eateries are taking note… (I know my husband and I sure wish we could go down for some “research!”)
