A Beauty of a dining upgrade is arriving at Walt Disney World’s Fantasyland this week. After five years of entertaining his Guests, the Beast will break the spell and bestow signature status to “his” establishment. Mesdames et messieurs, allow me to present the top four signature changes at Be Our Guest Restaurant.
Top Four Signature Changes at Be Our Guest Restaurant
As announced earlier this year, a more immersive and authentique French experience will be the goal of the changes arriving soon. After dining there last week, and engaging with the stellar Guest Experience Manger, Sarah, and our oh-so-delightful server, Courtney, we are working up a Beastly appetite for the upscale changes to come…
Signature Dining Profile
Perhaps one of the biggest changes at Be Our Guest Restaurant will be its new Signature Dining status. As with Cinderella’s Royal Table, this fine dining designation is combined with a Disney Character experience. The Beast will continue to make his appearance in the study and do his restaurant “walk-through,” (Note he does not visit individual tables.)
Of course, with this new distinction will come the requirement of two dining credits for those using the Disney Dining Plan. Though the typical credit card guarantee will be required, Advance Dining Reservations will not presently require pre-payment in full.
Prix Fixe Menu
First off, the new, three-course, prix fixe menu means a couple of things. No longer can you stop in for an appetizer and a glass of wine. Also, some of the menu items you have come to love (I’m looking at you dessert) may no longer be offered at dinner. The changes at Be Our Guest Restaurant mean there will not be a repeat of the luncheon choices. But in my mind, the famed Disney storytelling will be better “served” by a grander dining experience and cuisine that is intentionally more traditional and classically French. The cost for a full dinner will now be $62 for adults and $37 for children. Of course, alcoholic drinks are an extra charge.
Appetizers
Escargot
French Onion Soup (With the improvement of the more authentic beef stock on lieu of the former vegetable stock.)
Charred Octopus; served chilled and marinated.
Assorted Meats and Artisanal Cheese Selection
Mixed Field Greens
Entrees
Grilled Center Cut Filet Mignon with potato au gratin and green beans
Poulet Rouge Chicken
Spice-dusted Lamb Chops
Roasted Pork Tenderloins
Seafood Bouillabaisse
Smoked Ricotta and Corn Tortellini
Dessert
Bulletin: NO cupcakes will be served!!! Instead, a Trio of Desserts is on the menu:
Raspberry Macaron, a Maraschino Cherry covered in Chocolate, and the pièce de résistance- a White Chocolate “Chip” cup filled with than none other than The Grey Stuff! All served on an enchanted stained-glass plate. (See above!!)
Much interest has been expressed in the Kids’ menu. Appetizers offered include a Fruit and Cheese Plate or Wedge Salad. Entrees are divided into Kids’ Meals (Macaroni and Cheese with vegetables “Beast Casserole” style, Grilled Cheese and Turkey Noodle Soup), and the renamed healthy menu or “Disney Check Meals” (Mickey Meatloaf, Grilled Steak, Chicken Brochette, and Grilled Seafood of the Day). They can choose from the Dessert Trio or Seasonal Fruit. Included will be a choice of beverage.
Exclusive French Wines
Straight from France, and no longer available anywhere else on Walt Disney World property, the new Private Label Be Our Guest Restaurant wine list will expand on some of the choices now available. I just had to try the Be Our Guest Private Label Wine Sampler with our dinner. Though the L’ombre de la Bête Chardonnay was unavailable (getting ready for the new list, no doubt), our server and sommelier for the evening suggested substituting a glass of the champagne instead. Sacrebleu! The Charles de Fère, Jean Luis Blanc de Blancs from France was possibly the best champagne I had ever tasted! Not too sweet, not too dry, just right. Rest assured I will be stalking the new menu to see if it remains. either way, I will be trying the sampler again and again.
Service Upgrade?
The castle is alive. And the newly-trained staff is there to prove it! Never in all the visits to the Beast’s establishment have we been met (even outside his castle), with such professional and welcoming service. Likewise, our server Courtney could not have done enough to make our special occasion evening special.
As always, booked online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463). And don’t wait, do it before the last petal falls… I predict that coveted reservation will become far make difficult to snag due to the royal changes at Be Our Guest Restaurant! (And that certainly has become the case!)
