Wine Bar George Serves Frosé and Other Magic at Disney Springs

Wine Bar George

While wine is labeled as the star at this newly-opened Disney Springs establishment, what lies beneath the varietals is the true star of this show. It is the Disney legend behind the novel adult meeting spot that deserves the spotlight. This connoisseur of the Walt Disney World story is the award-winning reason to visit Wine Bar George.

George is What Makes Wine Bar George Unique

Wine Bar George

Master Sommelier George Miliotes

It is none other than native Floridian and Master Sommelier George Miliotes that makes Wine Bar George SO magical. As the lead in the team that opened Walt Disney World’s California Grill in 1995, he is one of just 249 with that distinguished title worldwide. Since leaving the California Grill in 2002, he has lent his creative force to seasons 52 and The Capital Grill. Luckily for his fans, Disney Parks wooed him back to join other celebrity chefs at Disney Springs. Believing that, in true Disney style every wine tells a story, he and his passionate staff are eager to share every savory tidbit with Guests.

Setting

Wine Bar George Seating

Located around the corner from the well-known Raglan Road at The Landing, this 210-seat wine bar evokes vibes from wine making country. Using simple, earthy materials, the establishment offers several settings for gathering. Sit at its two bars, high top tables, comfy couches, large group tables, and an outdoor wrap-around terrace. Take your pick and belly up. (We’ve tried them all!)

Wine

Wine Bar George Varietals

Overall, Wine Bar George offers 135 international wines. Forty-two of these are served on tap by the ounce or glass, and others by the bottle. (Imagine tasting that coveted, all-important wine for anywhere from $15 to $75 an ounce!)

Wines by the ounce

With varietals for every taste, food-airing, and price point, George’s personally-trained staff is eager to educate Guests on the wines and vineyards they showcase.

Interestingly, what originated as a “what if” has become a star in its own right- the much-hyped Frosé is as good as you’ve heard. The frozen drink that elevates the popular rosé to something cool and sweet. Mmmmmm.

Keep an eye open for future special events with other famous winemakers and stars of the industry.

Food

Skirt Steak (serves two or more) with
roasted potatoes, chimichurri, seasonal vegetables

Together with Executive Chef Ron Rupert (also formerly part of the original California Grill team), an informal menu comprised of family-style platters and small plates was created to complement the wine experience. Local farms and products will be regularly featured seasonally. The plates we sampled, shown above were spectacular; that polenta might just have been the best I’ve ever tasted!! And although my hubby’s restaurant serves a skirt steak that Zagat’s deemed “the best on the planet,” our steak platter was devoured. The skirt steak was expertly grilled and beautifully complemented by the red wine George choose for us- a 2016 Triton Tempranillo from Toro, Spain. ¡Delicioso!

wine bar george desserts

Be sure not to overlook dessert, as the Key Lime Pie was a sensation. If you have not had the opportunity to pair a dessert wine with your sweets, this is the destination to become educated.

Wine Bar George is open 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Currently, Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can enjoy a 10% discount.

The Basket at Wine Bar George

Looking to dine al fresco at Disney Springs? The Basket at Wine Bar George serves European-style sandwiches, cheese, hummus, charcuterie, and wines on tap (served to-go by the glass or carafe), Frosé to go, picnic baskets, as well as that Rose All Day Cookie!

ChEARS to you George- welcome Home!!

We are headed to Disney in 197 days (not that I’m counting) and this looks like a great place to visit. The food looks delicious and even know we dont do a lot of it, Disney drinking is always pretty amazing.

Congratulations on your countdown! There’s nothing like making a Disney plan. If time allows, I would suggest adding Disney Springs to your “Disney-Must-Do” list!

Visit their newest archeological dig- uncovering the site of one of the oldest Black churches in America. Here free and enslaved Christians came to worship during Revolutionary times at the First Baptist Church.

A step back into Christmastide- 18th Century style- might be particularly appropriate this year. #ColonialWilliamsburg #Virginia #Christmastide #Americanhistory

My last NY to FL road trip was in 1975. At that ti My last NY to FL road trip was in 1975. At that time, between Philadelphia and this destination there were miles and miles of billboards along I-95 (believe it or not, there are far fewer today- in the 70s, they numbered 250!!). Naturally, we were COMPELLED to stop here. Early social media at its best...

South of the Border was originally built on the North Carolina/South Carolina border in 1949 as a Beer Depot (NC was at that time a dry state). They capitalized on their location once again in 1962, when they started selling their now- “famous” fireworks (also then illegal in NC). Which is why this memory is such a standout for my family.

My brother NEEDED a stash of fireworks. Just what a kid from Queens craves? In the middle of August, and though we were not yet close to our destination, my parents caved. Those fireworks sat in the trunk of the family Impala (no air conditioning, mind you), and we proceeded to drive to Walt Disney World. Where the car sat, in the parking lot, on the blacktop, in near 100 degree temps, for over a week. How we didn’t cause a massive explosion at Disney’s Polynesian Village is a miracle that can’t be explained. Pixie Dust, perhaps?

Here’s to nostalgia folks. #I95 #SouthoftheBorder #fireworks #familymemories #itwasmybrother

My favorite part of owning the Marriott Bonvoy car My favorite part of owning the Marriott Bonvoy card? That annual free night. We strategically saved it for the @RitzCarltonAmeliaIsland. Located just 30 miles from Jacksonville, this barrier island was well worth the detour. And the Ritz? This property lives up to the name.

Though we just this once broke our “no elevators “ rule (we held our masked breath 😆) the Ritz-Carlton brand is one I trust for safety. #businesstravel #RitzCarlton #MarriottBonvoy #MarriottCleanlinessCouncil

I haven’t stepped foot inside a church since @St I haven’t stepped foot inside a church since @StLouisCathedral on Ash Wednesday, but I masked up to say a quick prayer inside this oratory.

Built as the centerpiece of Ave Maria University and planned community, this Gothic steel and stone structure was designed by one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s students. Minimalist with the exception of the exquisite 30-foot sculpture depicting the Annunciation on its facade.
