My husband and I are in the booking window for our 30th wedding celebration. Having stayed through the years at The Ocean Club, Atlantis Paradise Island, and the Graycliff Hotel, I was excited to visit a new part of Nassau. “Research” took me to Cable Beach. Perhaps a Sandals Royal Bahamian getaway is in our future?
** I received a complimentary Day Pass to Sandals Royal Bahamian. Though this post was neither required nor expected, I am thrilled to share my honest impressions of this idyllic spot.
This Five-Star resort immediately grabs your attention. In fact, this majestic 15-acre property was once a favorite hideaway of Wallis Simpson and the Duke of Windsor during his time as Governor of the Bahama Islands in the 1940s. Royal indeed!
Sandals Royal Bahamian is an easy to get to (only 200 miles from Miami, 15 minutes from Nassau Lynden Pindling International Airport, and 20 minutes from our Disney Dream port), all-inclusive, adult-only slice of paradise. What couple, from newly-engaged to the silver-haired, silver anniversary types, wouldn’t be allured to this form of luxury?
A Sandals Royal Bahamian Anniversary Built for Two
Romance is the order of the day (or week!), and everything at Sandals Royal Bahamian seems conveniently to come in twos… It is easy for lovers to feel like they belong.
Exclusive Offshore Island
This luxury takes many forms. With two secluded white-sand beaches, you may wonder why you need anything else. Until you see this. Need I say more?
Service
Despite the strict no tipping policy (with the exception of private butlers), I was quite impressed with the “over and above” level of service we witnessed. Think Caribbean charm melded with old-world expertise. Case in point-
Swim-Up Pool Bar(s)
In addition to the seven pools that Sandals Royal Bahamian offers, three of them include a swim-up pool bar. You’ve drooled over those commercials. I know you have. Me too!!
Whether on dry land or sitting cool in your pool, premium liquors (such as Johnny Walker) and Mondavi House Wines are all-included. Way to make a splash Sandals!
Dine on the Sand
Though this resort features fine and casual dining at no fewer than ten restaurants, it is the Table for Two Under the Stars that caught my fancy; sand, candlelight, stars, and champagne is all it took. I covet this.
Of course, these establishments look pretty alluring too. We ate lunch at Schooner’s Seafood Grill, and the Corn Fritters are to write home about.
Red Lane Spa
Enjoy a couples massage on the beach? Bring it.
Activities for Lovers
After all, it can’t be all goo-goo eyes, all the time. This resort includes unlimited water sports, such as wakeboarding, Aquatrikes, snorkeling and glass bottom boats. As well as laying like a lox in one place for hours.
Vow Renewals
Brides take note! Sandals takes destination weddings seriously. As well as vow renewals. “Retie the Knot” and bridal packages are available from 2 to 800 guests. These “Weddingmoons” cover every budget and passion. (Or so I’ve told the hubby!)
VIP Splurges
The Professional Butler Service or “ButlerElite” offered by Sandals is what truly captivated me. This staff is trained by the Guild of Professional English Butlers no less, and vow to surpass expectations. These WOWS, like personal lunch service on the beach, would certainly put the special in special occasion. And did I mention that butler suite guests enjoy round-trip airport transfers in a choice of Rolls Royce or Mercedes Benz? PLEASE.
Rooms? Though the typical rooms seemed on the small and uninspired side, the newly-opened River Pool Swim-Up Suites sure did catch my eye… Why not live large? Thirty years in I say we earned it!
I was thrilled to see couples of all ages at this adults-only resort. After all, love is also for the young at heart. Let me assure you, at any age “Love is All U Need.”
Warning- if you visit Sandals Royal Bahamian on a Day Pass, as I did, be prepared to get the itch. As you can see, love is in the air. And surf. My good friend (and simply the most professional travel agent I have ever dealt with), Kirsten at Pure Magic Vacations is your go-to gal. And while you’re busy planning, take a look at Beaches Mom Sherry’s review of a sister property, Beaches Turk and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa. This could be habit forming!

My husband and I did an all-inclusive resort for our honeymoon a few years ago on the beaches of DR. It was so much fun, but it wasn’t an adults-only resort. This sounds like a great place to go for a mommy and daddy break some time in the future!

I’ve not yet been to a Sandals property, but can certainly relate to the amenities they offer. We LOVED having a private butler at Jade Mountain. That quality of service can truly make or break a trip.

Congrats on 30 years, I have to brag a little that we celebrated 40 this summer in Europe. I think travel together is the best way to give a wonderfully romantic gift to each other. This looks like an incredible destination to mark the occasion!
