The Sanderson Sisters are back in the living world. Walt Disney World, that is! After 26 years they have at last returned to frolic with mortals. Their Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular remains the ghostly belle of the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ball. I was fortunate to have seen this castle show’s debut and I was bewitched! Could there be any better way to get into a spooky mood for Halloween?! Here are 3 reasons you cannot miss the antics of these 3 enchantresses:
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular Highlights
1. Dance and music
I’ve seen my share of shows on the Castle Forecourt Stage at Magic Kingdom park. Some have been toe-tappers, others have had pleasing scores. I thought the musical performances (“Come Little Children”, “I Put a Spell on You”, “Friends on the Other Side”, “Oogie Boogie’s Song”) and choreography executed by the cast of ghastly ghouls were unrivaled. The parts of the sisters, Winifred, Mary, and Sarah, were expertly cast. They stayed completely true to the original Hocus Pocus film characters. Such phantasmal talent!
2. Stagecraft
The special spectral effects of Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular really are, well, spellbinding. (Note the backdrop colors have changed through the years.) The set is backlit by “spelltacular” visual projections on Cinderella Castle. Add in a lighted jack-o’-lantern, graveyard gates, and a simmering cauldron! These elements, combined with the fireworks finale, reminded me of the drama and impact of our beloved HalloWishes.
3. Plot
“I smell children…” This Castle stage show has a real story that evolves and captures your attention.
Sarah calls sings the children to come to her “garden of magic.”
Then, to the cauldron for the spell- a Hocus Pocus Party Potion is in the mix!
This spell requires sinister shadows from longtime Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party favorite, Dr. Facilier. (AKA as “The Shadow Man.”)
Next component: nefarious nightmares from Oogie Boogie. (Also known as the archenemy from The Nightmare Before Christmas.)
Plus the “power of frightful friends!” Enter Maleficent, Evil Queen, Hades, Cruella DeVille, Captain Hook, Jafar, and Lady Tremaine. The hair of an innocent makes the formula complete.
SPELLTACULAR!!
This 22 minutes of naughty frivolity is another not-to-be-missed during this special ticket event. In fact, we found it so difficult to do everything Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party had to offer. (And we didn’t touch the attractions!) In reality, a second or third night would have been needed to participate in all of the phantom fun. Hauntingly, these Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular highlights are transfixing!

I haven't seen the new show yet and really want to. My husband is not a fan of the Sanderson Sisters at all, so that means I would have to go solo. It sounds like a really good show. I totally agree that it takes more than one night for MNNSHP, especially if you want to meet & greet with Jack and Sally.

You are so right April- unlike Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, this event really has to be attended more than once to fully appreciate all its "goodies!"
