Call it magic with a splash. Whether it’s your midday break from the parks with family, a post dinner swim, a Florida heat respite, or your runDisney R & R, Walt Disney World Resort pool bars have something for everyone. Think “a cold one,” a colorful umbrella drink, or a leisurely snack. I’ve ranked the on-property Top Ten Pool Bars at Walt Disney World for your tasting delight. We all know there’s nothing like a Disney challenge!!
Top Ten Pool Bars at Walt Disney World
1. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (The View!)
For nostalgia and views of Cinderella Castle, the Lava Pool and Barefoot Pool Bar is always number one. Not a guest at this resort? Not to worry! The Barefoot Pool Bar has windows both at the pool and on the exterior walkway. Grab a Frosty Pineapple (Pineapple DOLE WHIP with Captain Morgan Private Stock Rum) and head to your hammock!
2. Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort (Spend an entire day- it’s a water park unto itself.)
At Stormalong Bay, you can savor a Storm Chaser before you hit the lazy river, but at Hurricane Hannah’s Waterside Bar & Grill you can enjoy a full lunch for the energy required to climb the shipwreck to their 230-foot-long waterslide.
3. Disney’s Old Key West Resort (The legend.)
Get the “point” in the shadow of the lighthouse, the Gurgling Suitcase Libations & Spirits (Turtle Shack Poolside Snacks) has a reputation for creating die-hard regulars. Try the Turtle Crawl- you’ll always go back…
4. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (Doesn’t feel like a Moderate- fully themed fun for the entire family.)
It’s breakfast, lunch, and libations at the Lost City of Cibola Pool at the Dig Site and Siestas Cantina; from Mickey Waffles, to Queso Empanadas to Banana Splits! Vamanos to the Mojito Frambuesa!!
5. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (The newest and bestest.)
Located near the Copper Creek Springs Pool, and taking the place of the Trout Pass Pool Bar for now, is the Geyser Point Bar & Grill. Need some peace and quiet after the parks? Stop at this outpost and you’ll feel like you’re thousands of miles away. But still within view of Bay lake. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and every time in between. Try the Huckleberry Punch!
6. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin (A grownup favorite.)
There’s a definite adult feeling to this resort, Grotto Pool with Tropical Waterfalls (or Lap Pools), and Cabana Bar and Beach Club. Feeling romantic? Grab a cabana with your luv and order a Cuban Sandwich and a Specialty Cocktail Pitcher. The Pitcher of Dolphin Mai Tai, perhaps?
7. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas- Kidani (Go exotic.)
In a secluded watering hole (maji is Swahili for water), Samawati Springs Pool with Uwanja Camp at Kidani Village offers explorers the beautiful Maji Pool Bar. Lunch on Curried Chicken Salad and try an African beer. You’re not in Kansas any more.
8. Four Seasons Resort at Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort (Luxury with five stars.)
Daintily dip your toes into The Oasis (or Family Pool, Water Slide, Lazy River), and then have your food and beverage delivered to you, or saunter over to PB&G. Suspended over the lake, this surprisingly casual poolside spot serves Southern-inspired, Florida-fresh lunch foods, as well as small bites.
9. Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Area
After the re-imagining of the Oasis Restaurant and Bar, this spot- within walking distance of Disney Springs- is a worthy addition. (The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista and Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista are Walt Disney World Official Hotels and share the Oasis Aquatic Pool Area .) Whether dining alfresco or in the newly-enclosed area, perhaps the best feature is its proximity to the kids pool playzone. Parents can enjoy casual fare along with an extensive list of frozen and handcrafted cocktails. NOTE: The full menu can also be enjoyed in one of their unique cabanas.
10. Disney’s Riviera Resort
Disney’s newest resort has beauty, the Skyliner, and the European ambiance you might expect. To be frank, I was underwhelmed by the pool area here. And un poquito disappointed. BUT, Bar Riva might just make up for it. With a European-flair menu (think Spicy Italian Sandwich) and molto bene out-of-this continent cocktails (enchanté Provence Frosé), this makes the cut.
That’s the list of the Top Ten Pool Bars at Walt Disney World. Yes, ten! Each of these destinations offers non-alcoholic options that are equally frosty and delicious, so don’t be deterred! Whether you go for the views or to make a splash, libations toast the experience.
And if you are now dreaming of a lounge chair and an umbrella drink, contact my friend Faith at Pure Magic Vacations. She will ensure you don’t go off the deep end! NO ONE can plan a Walt Disney World experience like Faith…
