15 days and counting to the 50th Anniversary celebration ! Let’s welcome Ashley of Disney Diva in Training blog as she takes us back to Walt Disney World 2005.
My first trip to Walt Disney World was when I was 5 in 1999. But in 2005 we went back again, and I remember that trip a lot better. I love Walt Disney World and have been there 5 times in my lifetime. (We’re going back in the winter of 2012.)
Walt Disney World 2005
Soarin’ opened in Epcot in May 0f 2005, a couple of months after we had taken our vacation. Since then, I’ve ridden this ride a couple of times and absolutely love it. It’s an awesome experience. It feels so real when the ride takes you over the Golden Gate Bridge and the orange groves. And the smells are amazing.
Lights, Motors, Action: Extreme Stunt Show opened at MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) on May 5th, 2005. We’ve seen this stunt show once, and it was packed full of people, and we had to stand. But the stunt show itself was really cool.
Like I said earlier, 2005 was my second trip to Walt Disney World. Below are some pictures from our adventures throughout the parks.
Inside Minnie’s House in the Magic Kingdom at Mickey’s Toontown Fair. (Toontown is no longer in the Magic Kingdom, but is being taken over by the Fantasyland Expansion.)
My Mom actually suggested that I put this next picture up. At first, I wasn’t sure why. She told me that the hand and wand is no longer on the Epcot ball! I probably wouldn’t have picked that up without her help. But it’s really quite interesting to think of all the things that Walt Disney World added and took away since my first trip in 1999.
Walt Disney World 2005 Openings
A couple more interesting things that happened in 2005:

- The Happiest Homecoming on Earth started on May 5, 2005 and lasted 16 months long to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Disneyland which opened on July 17th, 1955.
