Yes, COVID has left us with a foul taste in our mouth. After an earlier cancellation of this annual event, a new twist has been put on a perennial favorite. Here’s how the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition will look in 2020!
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition Changes
Typically, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic is held for one weekend during the fall. This year, multiple though scaled-down experiences will begin starting September 19. I am happy to report that Coronavirus safety measures will be seen throughout the events. Socially distanced and reserved tables, touchless menus, plexiglass in food service areas, and temperature checks are all 2020 additions. (Personally, I hope the reserved table nuance is one that sticks!) In the email notice I received, I was delighted to read that the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort actually had read the surveys that guests like me had completed over the years. The move towards a series of more intimate and “VIP” food, wine, and beer experiences is the result. Well done! |
Sip, Savor, & Stay Saturdays
Starting on September 19th, each Saturday evening will showcase a different food and beverage experience. It is important to note that you MUST book an overnight resort package to be a part of these events. These one-night packages begin at $295, which includes 2 tickets to a Saturday “sip and savor” event. Additionally, all participants must be 21 years of age or older. Each Saturday evening will be limited to 100 guests. Sounds intimate (though expensive) to me!
As always, the themed food and beverage offerings are created by the in-house restaurant team.
The Bubble Lounge
September 19, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
The Bubble Lounge is a longtime fan favorite. It is not surprising that the bubbles head the lineup. Champagne and international sparkling wines will be paired with small plates. Think pink! (I know I will.)
Beer Garden
September 26, 5:30pm – 7:30 pm
As in years past, the Beer Garden will host a variety of hops, ales, lagers, and pilsners paired with “pub favorites.”
Italian Wine & Bites
October 3, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
These Italian wine varietals will be paired with Italian bites. We can only hope that Il Mulino will once again have a hand in constructing this menu! (My New York is showing…)
Smokin D’s BBQ
October 10, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Bourbon, Beer, & BBQ! The food classic bites and beverage pairings will be prepared by the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort‘s Executive Chef.
Oktoberfest Biergarten
October 24, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Don’t you agree? An Oktoberfest wouldn’t be an Oktoberfest without some oom-pah-pah! German music, beers, and food tastings will complete the evening.
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic: Limited Edition
October 17, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
Fall at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin wouldn’t be complete without this limited edition of its classic experience. Like past years, many “best of” tastes will be showcased. However, most likely this will be an indoor event.
This one-night package (including 2 tickets to the event) starts at $395. The evening will be limited to 200 guests.
Don’t forget- this resort is within walking distance of EPCOT. That means (for the price of a theme park ticket), the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is also just steps away!
Though nothing about 2020 looks or feels quite the same, we appreciate those glimmers of familiarity. Let’s see how the success of this “Limited Edition” affects future Classics. I raise my (souvenir) glass to their efforts!
